Sister Chen Mei-hui, OLClineOur Medical Service is Centered on the Patient

Continuing changes over the past few years to the National Health Insurance finance structure have resulted in challenges that threaten to undermine trust between doctors and patients. We have responded to these developments with introspection and improvement. Regardless of new evaluation standards and adjustments to regulations of the health insurance system, the pledge of our motto, STM (Service, Trust, Mercy), remains unchanged: safe, accessible, patient-centered medical care. The welfare of our patients will always be the prime focus of this hospital. Enhancing quality of care and promoting a culture centered on patient safety is how we assure superior medical services. Accordingly, we place great importance in maintaining and upgrading the caliber of our medical professionals through continuing education. We are constantly improving ourselves to foster a medical environment that promotes patient safety.

To establish a culture centered on patient safety, we initiated an improvement plan several years ago requiring upgrades in attitude as well as to physical facilities. Our information system adds a margin of safety to the dispensing of potentially-risky medications by flagging dangerous interactions and positively identifying patients to prevent dangerous mix-ups. Details of surgical operations are checked and rechecked. Areas of potential patient safety hazards, such as falls and hospital-acquired infections, are identified and corrected. Of particular importance is the establishment of a medical adverse event reporting system, so we can study how mistakes occur and create a safer medical environment by preventing similar problems in the future.

I am convinced that all our hard work results in better quality and service for the health care consumer. I hope, when you need medical services, you will let our doctors, nurses, and support staff earn your trust. We would be honored to show you how the spirit of ¡§Service, Trust, Mercy¡¨ can make all the difference.

May God bless you and your family.
