The Northern Thailand International Medical Service Team

In celebration of its 60th anniversary, St. Martin De Porres Hospital, guided by the spirit of "Go wherever there is a need," joined hands with Chung-Jen Junior College of Nursing, Health Sciences and Management to form an International Medical Service Team. From August 1 to 7, the team carried out a one-week medical outreach mission in Mae Salong, Northern Thailand, extending healthcare services and compassionate care beyond Taiwan's borders. This overseas mission adds special significance to the hospital's diamond jubilee, reflecting its enduring commitment to serving communities in need.
The Northern Thailand International Medical Service Team consists of 21 members, including seven staff members from St. Martin De Porres Hospital and fourteen participants from Chung-Jen Junior College of Nursing, Health Sciences and Management, comprising four faculty members and ten students. United by a shared mission of international service, the team provided health screenings, first aid education, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) training, and health education on basic infant and child care. Through these efforts, the team aimed to improve the health literacy of local residents.
Mae Salong is home to descendants of Chinese communities who settled in Northern Thailand and continue to lead simple, hardworking lives while preserving their Chinese cultural heritage. In addition to providing medical services, the team engaged with local residents through cultural exchange, introducing Taiwan and sharing its warmth, compassion, and achievements with the community, helping Taiwan's goodwill reach even farther across borders.
