St. Martin de Porres Hospital offers high-quality baby-friendly care, demonstrating comprehensive efforts in promoting breastfeeding. The obstetrics and pediatrics team conducts breastfeeding education and training, with all medical staff completing the courses. Following World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, the hospital conducts a series of technical audits, including skin-to-skin contact, infant-holding techniques, and hand-expression skills, to comprehensively improve service quality.
The hospital has introduced two innovative designs that have received positive feedback, reducing safety concerns and increasing breastfeeding willingness. The "Kangaroo Sling" provides safe support for newborns to lie prone on their mother¡¦s chest, extending skin-to-skin contact time, which helps promote breastfeeding and strengthen the mother-infant bond. The "Bed Rail Protector" eliminates safety hazards caused by gaps in bed rails, making breastfeeding interactions more calm and peaceful.
To help expectant and new mothers access parental knowledge more easily, the hospital has independently developed a multilingual health education app. Both local and foreign mothers can access professional assistance anytime. By incorporating "parent-infant co-reading" into its maternal and infant care plan, the hospital encourages parents and newborns to bond through reading together from the prenatal stage to rooming-in, fostering early language development in babies.
