The Next-Generation AI PET
Our hospital is proud to be the first in the Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan region to introduce a next-generation Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanner equipped with advanced artificial intelligence (AI PET scanner). This state-of-the-art technology marks a significant leap forward in precision and intelligent imaging, providing our community with enhanced diagnostic capabilities and preventive care.
Dr. Shen Shu-Chen, Director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine, noted that the AI PET scanner excels at analyzing images to detect even the smallest lesions, greatly improving the accuracy of cancer diagnoses. In dementia screening, it can precisely identify £]-amyloid accumulation in the brain, enabling early detection and timely intervention. The scanner¡¦s increased speed also reduces patient wait times and lowers the required dosage of nuclear medicine, making the examination process safer and more comfortable.
Dr. Men Chao-Yang, Director of the PET Imaging Center, highlighted that the AI PET scanner is capable of detecting over 20 common types of cancer, benefiting not only cancer patients but also supporting early dementia diagnosis. This provides a valuable option for elective health screenings.
The AI PET scanner integrates patented smart technologies, including a strap-free respiratory control system that uses AI-driven computations to minimize image blurring caused by breathing, thereby enhancing tumor detection accuracy. Its innovative high-precision continuous bed motion technology, supported by a unique rail system, eliminates motion-related artifacts and ensures precise image alignment. These advancements significantly reduce the breath-holding time required, further improving both the quality and comfort of the examination.
