St. Martin De Porres Hospital, in collaboration with the Taiwan Association of Private Medical Institutions and the Hospital Information and Smart Medical Development Association, jointly hosted the "Smart Healthcare Symposium" on March 28. Centered on the theme "Generative AI and Smart Healthcare Practices," the event brought together IT experts and industry leaders to share practical insights. Over 100 attendees, including hospital executives, IT directors, and technical specialists, participated enthusiastically. Additionally, more than ten exhibitors showcased cutting-edge technologies and services, making it a landmark event for academia-industry-government collaboration in Taiwan's smart healthcare sector.

President Mei-Hui Chen of St. Martin De Porres Hospital highlighted the hospital¡¦s longstanding commitment to digital transformation, noting its distinction as the first fully computerized hospital in the Yunlin-Chiayi region. Recent advancements include integrating AI and BI for precision medicine, such as the da Vinci Surgical System, ROSA robotic-assisted surgery, AI-enhanced 640-slice CT scanners, advanced AI-assisted gastrointestinal endoscopy, and the recently launched AI PET-CT scanner-the first in the Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan area. President Chen emphasized that while AI enhances efficiency and reduces labor demands, the hospital remains dedicated to delivering compassionate, holistic care addressing patients' physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

President Ming-Kuo Huang of the Hospital Information and Smart Medical Development Association cautioned against adopting AI for its own sake. He stressed the importance of optimizing workflows holistically and implementing robust cybersecurity measures to mitigate risks when deploying generative AI.
