 All births are special and a blessing to the parents. We were especially reminded of this recently, when a family traveled all the way from Australia to our hospital for a heart-touching reunion. The circumstances of their son's birth required a stay in our neonatal intensive care unit of several weeks, before God made a path for him to a happy, loving home in the Land Down Under. Michael is now a healthy, rambunctious little boy, dearly loved by his proud parents, who wanted him to see where he spent his first days of life and also maintain a connection to his origins. Fortunately, the pediatrician and nurse who took such wonderful care of their son were available to meet them, making this visit especially meaningful as well as memorable. It was quite a treat for our pair of medical professionals to see how well their former patient has grown up and see the heartfelt gratitude in the eyes of these visitors who came such a long way to thank them. We are overjoyed that this boy has thrived in the loving home his parents have provided, and look forward to future visits from him and his family.
The work of caring certainly has its priceless rewards.
