Taiwan has been relatively fortunate in our success with containing the virus, and have deservedly received much positive international recognition. We are blessed to have in place a strong national healthcare system, staffed by the most dedicated doctors, nurses and other medical and social workers who have proven themselves to be up to the challenge of COVID-19. In addition to maintaining the high level and availability of healthcare services as before, we can all be proud of the precious medical supplies and expertise our healthcare community has been able to share with other countries. Each of us plays a part in this success story with our vigilance in practicing social distancing, wearing masks in necessary situations where we are with others, and, crucially, staying engaged with the lives of not only our friends and loved ones, but those in our community who are especially vulnerable. As Jesus teaches us with the example of the Good Samaritan, underneath any external status that separates us, we are really brothers and sisters.
